Where do I begin? Maybe with a little about this cherished organization mentioned in the title. Marian House has become known as the leading organization offering high quality rehabilitative services and housing to homeless women and their children. They provide comprehensive services to many women who have suffered from trauma, physical and sexual abuse, the disease of addiction, and other challenges that left them homeless, unemployed and often separated from their children and families. Marian House helped my mom out back in 2009.
After a traumatic childhood, years of drug abuse and undiagnosed mental illnesses, Marian House was able to give my mom some semblance of a normal life. However, after being drug-free for a few years, she succumbed to all the demons that had been haunting her and she took her life.
Words will never fully explain the emptiness I feel without her presence. In an attempt to fill this void, I choose to channel my energy into helping women like my mom and giving back to the organization that allowed me to have some good years with my mom.
Please check out the Marian House and the work they do. This is the 5th year we’ll be running their 5K Race to Embrace Independence in memory of mom. Team Pamdukes has showed up and showed out over the years. We were the top team fundraiser last year. With the help of the Wine Hoes and our CSPN Media Family we hope to reach our goal this year.
