Day 4 of Drinkmas: Coquito

I have to be honest. I hate Egg Nog. Just the thought of it gives me a visceral reaction. It’s the Miracle Whip of cocktails. But I love all things coconut.  So when I found out there was a Puerto Rican version of this holiday classic I had to check it out myself.

I searched high and low on the innanet but wasn’t pleased with my findings. I wanted an Abuela approved recipe.  After several conversations with various people, one of DeeAsia’s friends cane through in the clutch. I added a few more spices to give it a twist but this recipe is sure to be a hit this Christmas.

Ingredients

1 can coconut milk

1 can coconut cream

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 can evaporated milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinammon

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 1/2 cups rum

coconut flakes, garnish

cinammon sticks, garnish

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients in a blender at high speed. Refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour. Shake well before serving. Serve cold in a small glasses. Garnish with cinnamon stick and coconut flakes.
